Westmont Elementary had another successful year with Destination Imagination. Destination Imagination is aworldwide creative problem-solving team challenge. Westmont Elementary had 4 sixth graders rise to thechallenge this year and have worked since October to create their solutions to their respective challenge.Our team of Emma Kaster, Brendan Schwickerath, Zach Matson and Caden Nebel chose the challenge titled Assembly Required. In this, they had to design and create some sort of vehicle that could transport original products and parts that the team created in order to fill as many ‘orders’ as possible, while also performing an original skit that tied everything together. This team earned 2nd place at the Regional Tournament in Plattsmouth and earned 3rd place at the State tournament. This was a fabulous year for these kids in Destination Imagination. Not only did our Westmont team qualify to compete at the state level (and placed!), but South Sarpy, as a district, had all 9 teams representing our district advance to the state level! This is just another example of the caliber of kids we have in our district! This successful year would not have been possible without the various help and support I received from the students’ parents! We would like to extend a big thank you to our volunteer, Kara Matson, who represented our team at the Regional and State levels as an appraiser. Also the support of our administration and the school board has also been tremendous and greatly appreciated!
